50 years ago, on April 30, 1975, the Vietnam War ended, resulting in a mass exodus of South Vietnamese people seeking safety and refuge away from the new communist government of the North. Among those places was the Greater Kansas City Metro, and this year on Sunday May 4, 2025, we commit to Remembering Saigon--the Vietnamese soldiers, the American soldiers, the Vietnamese civilians--those we lost and those who survived. We remember their journey...the challenges of rebuilding their lives in a foreign country, we recognize the pain of losing one's country, and we honor the resilience of the Vietnamese people.
