Farmers Market Pop-Up Spotlights Sustainable Agriculture and Local Food Systems

Community Event at Kansas City PBS Supports Digital Series ‘Harvesting Change’

KANSAS CITY, MO–Flatland, a digital nonprofit newsroom powered by Kansas City PBS, is excited to host a local farmers market experience designed to connect audiences with local food producers engaging in sustainable practices. The open market event will include a screening of the most recent episode of the monthly civic affairs show, Flatland in Focus, which focuses on regenerative agriculture. The short screening will be followed by a panel discussion with sustainability experts. This special event will take place on Thursday, June 20, at 6 p.m. at Kansas City PBS.

The event builds on the recent premiere of Flatland's short-form digital series Harvesting Change, which takes a deep dive into the sustainability of localized food systems in our region. Over four episodes, rural affairs reporter and Report for America corps member Cami Koons follows local food producers as they share innovative practices in their operations. Registration: The event is free, but RSVP is required at kansascitypbs.org/events.

Time: Doors open at 6 p.m., the program begins at 7 p.m., and the farmer's market will remain open until 8:30 p.m.  

Location: Kansas City PBS Station at 125 E. 31st Street Kansas City, MO 64108

Parking: Free parking is available on-site in the Kansas City PBS station's front lot on the station’s west side and the back lot to the south. Overflow parking is available in the lots adjacent to Grand Ave. and E. 31st St.
