To the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of KC community:
The membership and the Board of Directors of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City are very saddened by the recent acts of violence that took place in Olathe, Kansas. We send our thoughts and prayers of comfort to the victims of this tragedy and to their families, friends, and co-workers. This incident has caused great concern for safety within the Asian community. It truly affects all citizens, immigrants, and everyone who calls Kansas City home.
The AACCKC condemns all types of racially motivated hate crimes. We urge our elected officials and community leaders to pass legislation whose purpose is to prevent such actions. We ask for the development of educational programs that include a message of tolerance and inclusion. AACCKC believes in valuing diversity and inclusion, both in our business and personal lives. We also believe that ethnic and racial bias, discrimination, and bigotry have no place in our society today.
In closing, this organization will continue to help to advance Kansas City to be a place where we all embrace our differences in the belief that our community is becoming stronger based on our attributes and contributions.
Swati Yelmar, President
Sook Park, Executive Director
